This worked very well for my family of four, although I made two minor alterations: I added a layer of sliced, hard-boiled eggs (4 large) between the mushrooms and the onions & topped the garnish with freshly chopped chives. All in all it was a big hit, since my children ate it without complaint & my wife & I loved it.

I too have been making this for years. My daughter does not like peas, but loves this salad. I have found that the mushrooms to not hold up well for the next day leftovers though.

I have been making this recipe for years. I use Swiss cheese that has been torn into small chunks. We have always used iceberg lettuce. Can't wait to use the Romaine, it will make the next day or any leftovers stand up to the dressing. Great for parties - you can make it the day before. I also take hard boiled eggs and add them in the salad instead of mushrooms. Cindy

I added red pepper and celery and know you could add whatever you wanted to this to make it wonderful. I added 1/2 cup more of mayo and 1 cup more of sour cream. I also added lemon zest to the dressing.

I made this salad for a work gathering. Everyone raved about it! I keep the red onion and bacon separate so that people can add those ingredients themselves. A great recipe!

I made this salad for a baby shower. When served in a glass bowl you are sure to get "ooh's and aah's" from the crowd. Tastes great too!
