I also plan on making this for the up comming superbowl, and I agree about putting in the bacon or a "real meat" choice. But for a person who wants to make in ahead of time why not just use fresh dough, that should give you a little more time.
I have not prepared this recipe, so it may not be fair of me to make comments, but after reading the two previous reviews I felt I should. I make a very similar recipe that I call Pepperoni Bread. I use Pillsbury refrigerated French bread...roll it out. I place approx. a 1/2 lb of large sandwich size pepperoni with approx. 2 cups of Kraft pizza cheese. Roll it up, brush with an egg wash and sprinkle with shredded parmesan and Italian seasoning; I serve with a side of marinara sauce for dipping. My daughters boyfriend, who is away at college, just loves this stuff. I started making four loaves at a time for him to take back to school, which he freezes. As he pleases he takes a loaf out of the freezer, allows it to defrost and then bakes as usual. It's not quite as good as when it's freshly prepared but he's just happy to have it. I hope this helps.
I will make this but will use my son's favorite pizza combo - pepperoni & bacon - and will use pizza sauce for the dip.
I would not use turkey either, but Italian sausage or peperoni (or Canadian bacon!) would be good. Ingredients closest to actual pizza would be my choice! I plan to make this for the Superbowl...but with Italian sausage.
I would like to make this but want to know if it can be assembled ahead of time, refrigerated and then baked right before eating. I just can't imagine doing all that right before a party or while guests were already here. Thanks <<< Response from Kraft Kitchens Expert, Wendy ~ Refrigerated pizza dough should be baked soon after opening. We would not recommend preparing this more than 30 minutes before baking. >>>
I have made this many times but I use Canadian bacon and pineapple or pepperoni. Turkey sounds gross. They are so easy and taste so good!
Delicious, and VERY filling
This is so easy to make and is delicious.
I included marinara inside the pizza dough & put pepperoni in it also, the kids seemed to enjoy it & it tasted great.
I made this for a bday party on 7-9-06. I made a turkey one and a ham one. In addition to the marinara dipping sauce, I also offered ranch and honey mustard. I had them on a large platter and added fresh veggies as well. It was a hit with the kids and adults. It was an easy snack for the kids to grab and run with. Very little clean up too!!!
