Moist Caramel Apple Cake

Moist Caramel Apple Cake recipe
Inspired by a childhood favorite, this recipe reinvents the caramel apple as a cake, with fresh, tangy chopped apples baked into a treat that’s a whole lot easier to eat.

This cake was pretty good. I would say it was an accurate recipe and description. I didn't make any changes to it. However, coming from someone who bakes from scratch often, it didn't knock my socks off. My family was not emphatic about it either.

This is my most favorit-est recipe. I substituted applesauce for the oil and buy the caramel sundae syrup. I mix caramel syrup with coconut rum (to taste) and add cool whip to make a drizzle-y soft frosting. I spoon it over the top and let it dribble down the grooves, a capful more of rum along the rim of the plate and a pretty drizzle of caramel only lightly over the top and voila! Always, always a huge hit!

I made this cake for our Thanksgiving desert and everyone loved it. There were no leftovers. The only extra thing I did was add a touch of ground cinnamon.
