From some of the reviews I read, some people think that it is bland. I will season the chicken well and caramelize the onions with the syrup. That should give it some good flavor; perhaps use red onions, little lemon or orange juice.
This is a very tasty comforting dish. Since I always use large chicken breast halves for everything I just doubled the amounts of everything else and added 1/2 tsp black pepper and 1/4 cup of white wine. That way there was plenty of sauce to go on the mashed potatoes served with it. Also I diced and crisp fried 6 strips of bacon and added it to the apple onion mixture on top. Instead of cooking spray I used bacon drippings to brown the chicken. I make this 3 or 4 times a year and it's always a hit plus it makes the house smell so wonderful while cooking.
This recipe was easy, quick, and yummy!! I used real Vermont maple syrup and apple cider instead of pancake syrup and the salad dressing and I also cut three chicken breasts into breast strips. This a great Fall dish; I will definitely make it again :)
Really yummy and easy. Great for fall/winter time!
I found that the combination of the onions and maple syrup did not mix well. My husband and I did not like the taste but my son did.
Very easy to make. I find apples and onions together, along with maple syrup, unusual, but it works!
Skipped the Italian dressing and used extra syrup and apples - delicious! Also used a bit of apple pie spice to give the apples and chicken a bit more flavor. Making this again tonight - definitely a keeper!
I made this for my mom and brother. My brother doesn't eat chicken a lot and he LOVED this recipe. I used honey instead of maple syrup, i think next time i'll try the syrup. All in all it was very Yummy!!!
I made the recipe as is substituting honey. It was very good. I also made it using honey and teriyaki sause with pineapple instead of apples. This was also very good.
So delicious and SO easy! You probably already have all of the ingredients for this and it tastes so yummy!! Be warned though - you probably need a bit of a sweet tooth to enjoy it!
