I made this recipe last night and my whole family enjoyed it. I made it with white jamine rice for my husband and I. I diluted the sauce with a little extra water so that there would be more sauce to pour over the rice. I made potatoes for the kids and they loved it.
This was a very simple and tasty recipe. My husband is very picky and he enjoyed it. I doubled the sauce so that I would have some left over to pour over the white rice. I did not have Apricot Jam so I used orange marmalade instead. I also did not brown the chicken prior to baking and followed the recommendations to use a lot less of the onion soup mix. I do disagree with others and think that it is important to add some of the onion soup mix to balance the flavors.
Picture is very deceiving, especially the one in the magazine I got - it turned everything a bright orange, which is a bit off putting! Other than the color it was very tasty! My husband loved it! I will make it again, but maybe the potatoes on the side.
I agree with the comments about too much of the onion mix. I didn't taste it before it was baked, but once we sat done to eat it, the onion was very noticeable. Very good recipe though, and I will make again...with less onion soup mix!
This is fantastic!!!! It is all 3 of my kids favorite meal.
I've been wanting to make this forever, but was a little afraid it would be too sweet. It was delicious! I only used about 1 Tbsp soup mix as other people thought it was overpowering. This reminded me of a asian style sweet and sour. Yum!
A good weeknight meal...however the onion soup was over powering. I will definitely use less (much less!) or try to use a veggie soup mix like suggested.
Very tasty and delicious. I read the reviews first and instead of the onion soup mix I used a vegetable soup mix and it was perfect. Next time I will try it in the slow cooker.
This is by far the best chicken I have ever made! For a family that rarely eats red meat, we love the nice change. I also do not use the onion soup, the dressing and jam give it just the right flavor and makes the chicken deliciously moist. It's great over rice, mashed potatos, we've even had it with fries! It will be a meal we will have for years to come. It's a fave in our home! Love the crockpot idea too- cannot wait to try that!
This is a wonderful and super easy recipe.
