Quick-Fix Beef and Rice

How quick is this creamy ground beef and rice casserole? Just 5 minutes to prep and half an hour until it's ready to serve.

What You Need

lb. lean ground beef

cups frozen peas

2/3

cup (1/2 of 10-3/4-oz. can) condensed cream of celery soup

1/4

cup milk

clove garlic, minced

1/2

tsp. dried thyme leaves

2-2/3

cups hot cooked instant white rice

cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar & Monterey Jack Cheeses

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Brown meat in large skillet; drain. Stir in peas, soup, milk, garlic and thyme. Bring just to boil.

SPREAD meat mixture onto bottom of 8-inch square baking dish. Top with rice; sprinkle with cheese.

BAKE 10 min. or until cheese is melted.

For extra zip, stir 1/4 cup ketchup into the meat mixture along with the peas, soup, milk, garlic and thyme.

My kids did not like this at all. I thought it was ok, but won't make again.

it is very easy to make different variations of this recipe just by using a different creamy soup or other seasonings.

I added a can of drained pinto beans, frozen mixed vegetables, and a couple dashes of hot sauce after it was cooked. I was worried about it being too bland after reading some of the reviews - these few changes made it very yummy! I'll definitely be making this again!

I substituted shredded carrots for the peas for more texture.

This recipe was very bland. I tried adding the ketchup like the recipe said and i even tried adding some butter to the rice but it was still so bland. It was a strange recipe. Maybe adding the lipton onion soup mix like someone mentioned wouldve helped?

Try adding 1 packet of Lipton onion soup to meat mixture for added flavor.

This was very easy. There was not a ton of flavor, but it was very good for a weeknight dinner. I will make this again.
