My Husband thought this was GREAT! I left out the milk and added 1/4 cup sour cream, cut the peas to 1 cup but added 1 cup of frozen corn, and left out the thyme. Great for leftovers also!

I used ground chicken instead of beef, cream of chicken soup instead of celery, basmati rice instead of minute rice and I used shredded cheddar with sundried tomatoes and it was delicious. I just adapted this recipe to what I had in my fridge and pantry. This recipe has so many possibilities.

I agree with cutting down on the Thyme. I also added mixed veggies & some mushrooms instead of just peas.

The thyme was a little much, I'd reduce the amount, but everyone loved it. My teenager wasn't going to try it, and he loved it.

I used a cheese and broc. rice mix. It added a lot of flavor.

As others suggested, I substituted Italian seasonings for basil (plus extra) with other assorted seasonings like onion powder, extra salt, and cayenne pepper. I sprinkled cheese between the layers of meat and rice, added mushrooms and used an entire can of soup. Delicious!

I added oregano instead of thyme and diced tomatoes and it really tasted good. Italian style!

I salt and peppered the ground beef, added a whole can of cream of mushroom soup, substituted basil for the thyme and topped the beef with mozzarella cheese. These were the ingredients I had on hand and it turned out very good!
