I liked this stew allright. I'm not fond of sweet stews and with the barbecue sauce this came out a little too sweet for my taste. When I do it again I will find a low sugar barbecue sauce to make it with.
This stew looked great after cooking. My husband & I just loved it. I will make it a lot. BBQ sauce is great with vegetables & meat. Am giving the recipe to my 2 daughters. They will love it too.
The recipe sounded like it would be too dry from the very beginning so I added beef broth, and it made it JUST right. I also added a few extra veg. that sounded good to me! I actually got the "wow, this is good" and was asked to make it again!! Pretty good since I can't really cook!! =) In the process of making it again
this was my first time using a slow cooker, I enjoyed making this recipe, I didnt find it dry at all the last person to rate it said she would use beef broth I found that it was'nt nessesary my stew was fine I did make one change I did not use coffee and I cooked it on high for 5 hours. I would make this recipe again, its good for cold days.
I have a brand new Rival Crock Pot, so I know it is not the pot! This recipe is very dry. I made it to the exact recipe and even after adding the rest of the BBQ sauce and green beans, it still was dry! I would not recommend this receipe at all. A waste of money and ingredients!
This was my first recipe using my slow cooker and I think it was very easy. It took some time to brown the meat, chop the onion and potatoes ( bought baby carrots in the bag) but after you put everything in the slow cooker it's easy. Used frozen mixed vegetables and had with rice. Pretty good flavor, will probably add beef broth next time.
I thought it needed something more. It was kind of dry for a stew.
I have made this dish three times for different people and it has been a great hit.
Absolutely delicious! Wonderful flavors with the barbecue sauce and coffee. I will definitely make this again and will add more liquid next time.
My husband loved it! I added a can of diced tomatos and an additional 1/2 a cup of bbq sauce to add some more liquid - it was great. I even liked it, and I'm not a big stew fan! Will definitely make this one again!
