This sounded like a good idea, but I was pretty unimpressed with the lackluster results. The flavor was pretty one-dimensional, and unappealing to me. I had to add some fish sauce for some glutamates and some extra salt to round it out a little bit. The coffee just added an unpleasant bitterness that I wished wasn't there. You'd get better results substituting the coffee with a dry sherry and substituting the barbeque sauce with a mixture of italian dressing, worchestershire sauce, and liquid smoke, IMO. I'd also add mushrooms for some natural glutamates.
