This is absolutely the best dessert I've ever made - and I'm not really crazy about lemon! It comes out looking just like the photo. Lovely cake on top and warm creamy lemon pudding on the bottom. I've made it half a dozen times this summer. My friends just love it! I bake it in an attractive glass baking pan, and use a serving spoon to scoop it out. I keep saying I'm going to try different puddings, but I'm really stuck on the lemon!
After an hour and l5 minutes of cooking, the cake was still not cooked, while warm, there was not much cake consistency, it was more pudding than cake, it looked like the cake dough did not rice like a normal cake would, and the pudding took over the consistency of the dish, it did not taste bad, but it did not look as the picture on the web site.
This recipe is wonderful!!! I've been trying (without success) to duplicate the old Lemon Pudding Cake box mix that Betty Crocker had out years ago. This tastes almost exactly the same. I've never tried it using a lemon cake mix but will next time.
I'm actually about to make it again now! This is soooo yummy! I'm going to try it with a lemon cake mix this time. My son LOVES lemon flavored desserts and this one was a hit with not only him but the whole family. Delicious comforting taste! Absolutely perfect served warm on a cold day!!
I made this recipe and took it to a covered dish at church. Had people asking for the recipe.
LOVE THIS RECIPIE!!! Had no problem with bubbling over or runny cake. My family loved it right out of the oven with a nice big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!!!
Great to serve when you have a big crowd. The leftovers only keep well for a couple of days.
VERY YUMMY!! So easy to make and a wonderful dessert!! I did use a lemon cake mix and do agree it makes it much better. Do want to try it as a chocolate dessert--changing the cake mix and pudding mix to my favorite flavor--chocolate.
Almost 1/2 of the lemon filling bubbled over, leaving practically none on the bottom of the cake. Is there a way to avoid this happening in such a great amount?
Loved this cake. Can also use lemon cake mix if you want a strong lemon flavor.
