This was really good. The mushrooms added a good texture. I froze the leftovers, there were alot b/c it's just me and my husband.
This is one of the best stew recipes I have made. Normally I don't use a recipe. Now, this is the only stew I make.
this was so easy to make and I can't believe I made it in just under 2 hrs My tips: cook the bacon in the same large pot you will cook your stew in, it will stick but after you take the bacon out pour about a cup of red wine into the pot while it is still hot. sautee the onions in the mixture of bacon fat and wine, it will add so much favor! enjoy!!
absolutely love love this recipe. it is so good. I added 1 stalk of celery thinly sliced to give it even more home made flavor. It makes the house smell so good. This is a keeper!

I made this for a get together for some of my high school friends of long ago, all good cooks. They thought it was delicious, and so did I. I did cook the beef roast separately in a mixture of water, beef and chicken bouillon cube, plus salt, pepper and garlic. (I alsways add chicken bouillon when doing stews, etc., as it brings out the flavor.) Thanks for helping us have a good meal, while we were "bonding" after not having seen each other for years!
We added the tyme to this recipe and it was good. This is definitely a recipe that taste better the second days. Next time I will make it in advance and have it the next day.
This was very good and tasty. The only ingredient that was missing for my taste was a little salt. I thought the bacon, broth, and canned tomatoes would of given it enough salt. That is why I didn't add it during the cooking process. I will definitely make this again.
