Perfect Winter Beef Stew

Perfect Winter Beef Stew recipe
"Tasty" barely begins to describe this stew. With savory beef, rich bacon, veggies and hearty potatoes, "perfect" is a much closer word.

I used Light Done Right Italian dressing and doubled the tomatoes. Yummy and easy!

I loved this recipe! My family doesn't like tomatoes chunks so I pureed them, worked fine, I also added green beans and carrots just for extra filling- the tomatoes water it down a bit more, but excellent- will make again and again!

Instead of stewed tomatoes, I used tomato sauce (my family doesn't care for tomato chunks). I added some minced garlic to the mushroom, onion mixture while cooking (used olive oil). Used a bit of cajun mixed spices (no salt) to add a touch more flavor.

This a a great recipe. I cooked it as instructed but decided after trying a spoonful, that it needed a small can of tomato sauce with garlic, basil & oregano flavors. So I cooked it a bit longer and also had to thicken with a small amount of corn starch. For our taste, it was a bit sweet so next time I will not add as many mushrooms. However, this is a great stew to experiment with so suit your own taste.

This stew was wonderful. The bacon added a great flavor to the stew. It didn't take me long to make. I personally made biscuits to go with it. My husband love the stew over the biscuits. Plus, it was very filling. I froze the leftover stew, when I pulled it out the other day, it was still very good. It didn't get watered down or loose th flavor.

This was the best beef stew I ever had!!! Growing up and eating a lot of different stews made me go away from that for many years, but after seeing a picture of this receipe and with having bacon in it made me want to try it. FABULOUS! Will make this again and again.
