Perfect Winter Beef Stew

Perfect Winter Beef Stew recipe

I added celery and garlic with the onions, omitted the mushrooms and tomatoes, and used frozen peas, fresh thyme, and a couple bay leaves. I also browned the meat before adding the broth, carrots, and potatoes. I also added some cornstarch at the end to think it up a bit.It was fantastic!! Husband who hates soups and stews ate almost the whole pot!!!

Easy to make. The meat ended up over-done, cooked a lot faster than the recipe indicated. Not sure what I did but ended up with a lot of stew! Froze it for an easy winter meal later in the year.

Family ate this for days! Love that you marinate the meat first. Gives it great flavor and helps it tenderize. I also added fresh garlic and a stew meat seasoing packet. Plus a litttle cream cheese...defiantly a keeper!

Hubby definately enjoyed this. He ate half the pot. Good thing it was only me and him.

We have made this many times. The only difference we do is that we let it simmer - really low - for 2 hours instead just to make sure the carrots and potatoes are done. Oh, we also marinate the meat overnite too if we remember. This is so good and especially good the next day for lunch.
