Updated Fettuccine Carbonara

We took one of the richest pastas around and turned it into a delicious low-fat alternative. It's not only brilliant, it's downright delectable.

What You Need

1/2

lb. fettuccine, uncooked

cup frozen peas

1/4

cup PHILADELPHIA 1/3 Less Fat than Cream Cheese

1/4

cup KRAFT Lite Creamy Caesar Dressing

Tbsp. flour

cup fat-free milk

pkg. (6 oz.) OSCAR MAYER Smoked Ham, cut into short strips

1/4

cup chopped fresh parsley

Tbsp. KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

It's for dipping and dunking and mixing-upping. And yes, for salad too.

Make It

COOK pasta in large saucepan as directed on package, adding peas to the boiling water for the last 3 min.

MEANWHILE, beat cream cheese, dressing and flour in medium saucepan with whisk until well blended. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until mixture is well blended. Add ham; cook on medium-low heat 5 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally.

DRAIN pasta mixture; return to pan. Add sauce; mix lightly. Cook 2 to 3 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally. Top with parsley and Parmesan.

Fast, easy and so good. It is so rich tasting it is hard to believe it is low fat. I have also tried this recipe with shrimp. Awesome.

My family loves this one. I double the sauce because we're that kind of family. If I dont have peas I'll use green beans or asparagus. Its a good, fast meal that the whole family likes.

I love that this is a healthier alternative to traditional Carbonara pasta. However, it seemed to be a bit lacking in spice. I definitely plan to make it again, and next time I will dress up the sauce with some fresh garlic or garlic salt, Italian seasoning, or maybe some oregano to give more flavor, as some members have suggested. With a little tweaking, I think this could be a superb recipe - a great base recipe to start you off!

This was quick and very good for a busy week night. Budget friendly for a family of 6. I used 1 pound of angel hair pasta and left everything else the same. Dinner was done in less than 20 mins. Excellent!!
