What You Need

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, divided

pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

eggs

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

cup oil

1/2

cup water

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping (Do not thaw.)

Tbsp. PLANTERS Sliced Almonds

Enjoy serving MAXWELL HOUSE coffee with this delicious recipe.

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

CHOP 2 oz. chocolate. Beat cake mix, dry pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, oil and water in large bowl with mixer until blended. Stir in chopped chocolate. Pour into 2 (9-inch) round pans sprayed with cooking spray.

BAKE 30 to 35 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 min. Loosen cakes from sides of pans. Invert onto wire racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.

MICROWAVE COOL WHIP and remaining chocolate in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1-1/2 min. or until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after 1 min. Let stand 15 min. to thicken.

STACK cake layers on plate, filling and frosting with COOL WHIP mixture. Sprinkle with nuts.

I made this for Father's Day and my husband kept nibbling on the tops of the cakes and the extra icing before taking it to my in-laws. Mmmm!

This cake was OUTSTANDING! I made it for my chocoholic co-worker. I got a little nervous when melting the Cool Whip and chocolate in the microwave, but it does work out - just cool it for about 20 minutes before spreading or it is a little too soupy. I think I will use chocolate chips in the batter next time instead of the chopped chocolate - the chunks were a little random and I think chips would make it more uniform. Everyone raved about this cake - I'm going to make it again this weekend for a friends' birthday!

I made it as a birthday cake for a Lady who is a Choc-O-Halic. I'm not big on chocolate, but any time you put this Recipe in front of me I'm going to go back for seconds. Moist, Good Flavor, not a harch chocolate flavor, Superb Frosting. I recommend this cake to lovers of Chocolate, but especially to those, Like me, that don't particularly like Chocolate.

Wow! What a cake! Made this for Mother's Day and everyone said it tasted as good as it looked...A Chocolate lovers delite! It was moist, with chocolate chunks throughout, and my frosting came out perfect! I will definitely make this again, and again, and again! Thanks Kraft! I would make the cake again, but something is wrong with the frosting. The coolwhip turned to milk immediately leaving the frosting very runny. What did I do wrong???
