OMG.. is this ever great. I used chocolate chips as that's all I had. We like that they weren't totally melted in the cake and you'd get the surprise of biting into one. I too had the problem of the cake sagging in the middle when I took it out of the oven and I was so careful not to bang the pan on the counter. It still tasted great! Thanks Kraft for all your great recipes.
I made this cake when we had company and they all loved it. The ganache like frosting tastes like it was store bought. Will definitely put in my permanent file to make again.

This is absolutely amazing. I don't generally like my cakes cold but I went ahead and refrigerated as recommened and it did make it even better. I also added a can of regular chocolate icing because it was a little too runny for me to spread (might have done the frosting wrong though) and I think it was a great mix with the cool whip. I will make all my frosting's this way now.
I found this recipe to be like everyone said it was. I was a little worried about heating Kool Whip, but it was wonderful. So delicious. It looked just like the picture. I may make this on our cooking show.

This is a wonderful chocolate cake recipe! I am not a huge chocolate cake fan, but this one is really very, very good. It is moist and rich and very easy to make. I have made this cake more than a dozen times over the past couple of years. I also use this recipe to make cupcakes and have made a vanilla version as well!
