What You Need

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, divided

pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

eggs

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

cup oil

1/2

cup water

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping (Do not thaw.)

Tbsp. PLANTERS Sliced Almonds

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

CHOP 2 oz. chocolate. Beat cake mix, dry pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, oil and water in large bowl with mixer until blended. Stir in chopped chocolate. Pour into 2 (9-inch) round pans sprayed with cooking spray.

BAKE 30 to 35 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 min. Loosen cakes from sides of pans. Invert onto wire racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.

MICROWAVE COOL WHIP and remaining chocolate in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1-1/2 min. or until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after 1 min. Let stand 15 min. to thicken.

STACK cake layers on plate, filling and frosting with COOL WHIP mixture. Sprinkle with nuts.

I made this cake for my co-workers birthday and the boys in the office loved it! Actually they took a second piece right away. I was a little worried about microwaving Cool Whip and chocolate since I have never done this before. It is the best frosting ever! I will make this cake again.

I made this cake for a friend's birthday. I had no idea how good it really is. I used chocolate chips, instead of the squares and the chips didn't melt so you got an extra surprise in every bite. My friend has raved about how good this cake was to everyone. It is a hit. I, too, was surprised at how little frosting it makes, but it was enough to cover the cake.

Holds true to name. I have made this so many times that I have memorized the recipe. Tastes great with the reduced calorie sour cream, cool whip and sugar free pudding. I use chocolate chips/chunks instead of baking squares and chop them for in the baking mix. LOVE IT!!!

I made this cake for Christmas and it was more than just hit... It was devoured in 20 minutes. I advise you make this cake! It's rich, thick and make sure to have a glass of milk. So, delicious!!!!

Very rich and hugely popular! I make it with King Arthur's Gluten-Free Choc cake mix because I need it to be gluten-free. Very yummy! You won't be disappointed!
