After reading other comments, I decided to make extra sauce, using 5 cups milk, flour, 5 tblsp flour...and then added a bit of corn starch to thicken more. I also added garlic, salt, white pepper, & nutmeg to it (also gave the spinach mixture same treatment). Then added a whole cup of parmasean cheese, plus a bit of mozz cheese too. I had just enough sauce to cover top!! (thank goodness I made extra!) Extra note: I don't like canned crab (tastes like canned tuna to me), so I used the whole chunk crab, crumbled. My family loved it!! Will def make it again...but will add other seafood too...squid, mahi mahi, scallops.
I put in real crab and shrimp
I've made this three times in the last 3 months. It's fantastic. I did change a few things - I use 8 oz cream cheese in addition to the other cheeses. Also, use alfrado sauce along with shrimp soup and 8 oz whipping cream seasoned with a bit of Old Bay seasoning, to taste. The flavor is more intense the next day. I usually make 3 pans, 9 x 9 inch. Freeze two and have one for dinner that night.
After reading the comments I did add some extra seasoned salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder to both cheese mixtures. You can smell and taste that it will need something extra just by sampling before putting it all together. I used packaged lobster and shrimp and cut up both before adding. I would use less spinach next time it's a little overwhelming. Definitely takes more than 15 min. Also use no boil noodles so it had to cook a little longer.
I made this and it was a hit. My family loved it and we even had my hisbands brother over for dinner and he loved it too!! It does take awhile to make so I usually reserve this for the weekends but well worth it.
I am a new cook, so it takes me a bit longer, but it definitly took longer than 15 minutes to prepare. I thought it was ok, husband did not really care for it and he likes pretty much everything. Smelled better than it tasted, I was sadly disappointed.
great dish. family loved it.
I thought the spinach mixture and cheese sauce were both bland so I added garlic powder, white pepper, and seasoned salt to the spinach mixture, and cayenne pepper and nutmeg to the cheese sauce. Also, the lasagna came out a bit dry. I think it needed more sauce. In the future, I would save time by using a jarred alfredo sauce. Also, I would not use canned crab.
I made this lasagna with my homemade alfredo sauce instead of the sauce listed, and used fat free cottage cheese and mozzarella. It was fabulous and the leftovers warmed up beautifully. I will definitely make this again!!
I read the other reviews before making this, so I altered it a bit. I added finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the spinach mixture. I also added salt, lemon pepper, Old Bay and Italian seasoning. I think it was quite good and my guest enjoyed it as well.
