What You Need

lb. extra-lean ground beef

cloves garlic, minced

1-1/2

tsp. dried oregano leaves

jar (24 oz.) spaghetti sauce

large tomato, chopped

egg

container (16 oz.) BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN 2% Milkfat Low Fat Cottage Cheese

cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

lasagna noodles, cooked

pkg. (7 oz.) KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, divided

Make It

HEAT oven to 375°F.

BROWN meat with garlic and oregano in large saucepan. Stir in spaghetti sauce; simmer 5 min., stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in tomatoes. Mix egg, cottage cheese and Parmesan until well blended.

SPREAD 1/2 cup meat sauce onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. Top with layers of 3 noodles, half the cottage cheese mixture, 1/2 cup mozzarella and 1 cup sauce. Repeat layers. Top with remaining noodles and sauce; cover.

BAKE 30 min. or until heated through. Top with remaining mozzarella; bake, uncovered, 5 min. or until melted. Let stand 5 min. before serving.

Substitute 1 container (15 oz.) part-skim ricotta cheese for the cottage cheese.

Makeover - How We Did It

We've made over a traditional lasagna that results in a savings of 140 calories and 10g of fat per serving by using extra-lean ground beef instead of sausage and decreasing the amount, using cottage cheese instead of ricotta cheese, decreasing the Parmesan and using KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Mozzarella Cheese.

This is EXCELLENT! I assembled it the night before, and just baked it before dinner. We ate with friends, and everybody loved it. My husband asked me to make it again, and to be sure that we make it when we have friends over again!

I'm Italian so I had to substitute the cottage cheese for low fat ricotta cheese. It was REALLY good though, I would make again. Friends and family loved it.

This was the first lasagna I have ever made! It wasn't difficult to make and it was really good! Next time, I think I will add 1/2 - 3/4 of a tomato and some more sauce, b/c my husband & I like more sauce, and also some more seasoning! But it was good & I like the fact that it's only 300 calories/serving!

recipe turned out really well. i added a salad and garlic bread to complete the meal. I will be making this again soon. There was more than enough sauce and cottage cheese.It came out perfect!! Thanks for a great recipe.

We really did not like this. It did not have enough sauce or cottage cheese at all. Also, the tomatoes made it really watery which diluted the sauce. We had so much leftovers that I bought another can of sauce to make it less dry. With more cottage cheese, no tomatoes, more sauce, and more seasonings, it would have been much better.

I also used the no boil noodles. I used 1% ricotta cheese instead of the cottage. I loved it and will be making it again!

Excellent recipe! I made it last night (a weeknight) with oven ready (no boil) noodles and it cut down on the prep time significantly! Just make sure the noodles are completely covered by the sauce and they will be fine. My fiance loved it so much that asked me to make this instead of stouffer's frozen lasagna from now on.
