Every Wednesday night my husband has a group of ten men over, and they all look forward to a home made dessert. Tonight I treated them to your strawberry shortcake, and I wish you could have heard their rave reviews. They loved it! I sugared the strawberries about 2 hours ahead so a syrup would form and bring out the strawberry flavor even more, Not a drop was left on any of their plates. I think they must have licked them clean!

TRY MAKING DROP BISCUITS W/ SOUR CREAM & BAKE THEM ACCORDING TO RECIPE. THIS IS FAR EASIER AS A SINGLE SERVING DESSERT ALTERNATIVE. ALSO, YOU CAN ADD SUGAR TO YOU'RE SOUR CREAM (DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH YOU NEED), THIS TASTES BETTER THAN WHIP CREAM -- USE AS A TASTY TOPPING FOR THOSE DELICIOUS DESSERTS.

i have found another way to cut cake evenly use a piece of dental floss wrap around the cake and cross the two pieces and pull opposite of each other.

I cut the calories by using Cool Whip Lite (or you can use Cool Whip Free), Sugar Free/Fat Free Jello, low fat sour cream (or use no fat), and Splenda instead of sugar. Doesn't change the taste at all.

Had difficulty cutting the cake in half without it almost falling apart. Everyone loved it, but I felt it was a little dry. I did see someone made a comment about doubleing the cream layer and I'm sure that would do it.

Wow! Was this good! I made this for recent bbq w/ neighbors. I doubled the cream layer, and it was good, but probably not necessary. I agree with letting the strawberries sit to get more juice to put on the shortcake. Also, I ended up buying cheesecake flavored pudding instead of vanilla, and I thought it was great. I will make it with the cheesecake flavor next time too.
