Everyone loves this recipe and it is so easy. I have made it like it is shown, and also as individual servings with a muffin tin. This recipe is so easy and delicious you will make it again and again!
Wonderfully light and tasty
I served it for my guests at a BBQ and it was a big hit. I have given the recipe to several of several of my guests. It not only taste great, but looked even better. I made it with sugar free pudding, lite cool whip. Itry anytime I can to cut down on sugar and colesteral

I made the topping with cheesecake pudding for a little different flavor. Also, I made two round cakes instead of trying to cut one in half. Much easier!
Tasted very good but the shortcake was hard to cut in half. Did not rise at all. I would make again though.
I have made this recipe 3 times and each time I have recieved rave reviews. I might try and come up with a different cream toping though. The recipe as is does not provide enough cream topping so I use 1 and 1/2 boxes of pudding mix and little extra whipped cream. Let the strawberries an sugar sit a bit so that a little syrup develops, the syrup soaks in the cake giving it more flavor.
I made this dessert for fathers day, fortunately I made a second dessert, the 4 layer dessert. The cake was hard to spread in the pan and when it came out ended up being to thin to cut in half. So...I ended up making a second cake, spreading easier only because I put some dry cake mix on top of it and spread it with my hands. Presentation was beautiful, but the cake was too dry and ended up tasting more like a biscuit. Next time I'm going to do it with a real cake mix.
I had huge compliments on this strawberry shortcake. the "cake" part is a little thin, but, in the olden days, when one made a strawberry shortcake, the cake part was more like biscuit and that is the way this one is. One of my friends, who loves strawberry shortcake and orders it everytime he has the opportunity said, this was the best strawberry shortcake he had ever tasted and he has tasted many. I thought it was good. I am making it again today, and I think I will put more strawberries in, and I certainly put more than 3 Tblspn sugar on the strawberries. Simply because the strawberries we get here are not all that good and need a little help. I also put some of the pudding into the last part of the coolwhip. I thought it was a super recipe and so did everyone who tasted it.
