I haven't made this particular recipe but for 25 years have made a similar one that I'm always adjusting to what's on hand. My main change - add lots and lots of chopped vegetables - broccoli, cauliflower, sweet peppers, marinated artichoke hearts, carrots, cucumbers or zucchini, onions or green onions, and then if you use grape tomatoes they won't get mushy like chopped ones do if you make it ahead or have leftovers.
