The perks are that this recipe is incredibly easy to make. The downfall, as previously stated, is that it comes out a bit bland. I added some butter, buttermilk, and milk to make them more creamy. I still had to use quite a bit of salt & pepper for any flavor at all. I also agree that this yields a bit less servings than one would think, so up the # of potatoes you use! However, I'll definitely keep making this/toying with it until it's perfect.

This recipe is fool proof and very versatile. I substituted broccoli for the cauliflower and both my son and husband (both members of the "we hate broccoli" club) just inhaled it. I even served it as a side for Xmas dinner and no one missed the original mashed potato dish.

this was my first time making mashed potatoes. it was easy and delicious. i added quite a bit of fresh ground peppercorns and sea salt to add taste. my husband couldn't guess the "secret" ingredient and it drove him nuts. he snooped around until found the evidence, but he never would have guessed it. my only suggestion is to double the recipe. this barely fed 4 of us, two of which are little kids! everyone wanted thirds!

I've heard of using cauliflower in mashed potatoes so I thought I'd try this. It was pretty bland, though. I had to add some black pepper to it, but I think it needs some garlic powder or something to give it some flavour.

The cauliflower made the potatoes taste like dirt. YUCK! If I make it again, I wouldn't add the cauliflower.
