the page was open to the recipe and my husband said he wanted that for dessert when we had company coming in 2 days. It was simple and absolutely delicious. So incredibly simple to make and the cool whip added just the right sweetness to the tartness of the apples.
I love to cook NOT bake! but having 2 little kids in the house who happen to love apples and pies, I just have to do it! then I saw this recipe in my mail and I said to myself... i can do this, its easy. And sure it was. I took it to a friends dinner party and they all thought I was the BEST cook ever and it was the BEST apple tart, Most of all my kids adore me more! What can I say, it was great! THANKS!!!
I thought this was the best apple pie-like recipe I've ever tried. Not so bad for you, while getting the what I like best of the pie anyway!
My daughter made this last night. It was awesome!!! We ate it warm with apple carmel ice cream. My daughter said the hardest part was peeling and slicing the apples. We flipped it onto a plate and it looked very nice. I will definitely make this next time I have guests.
Loved this recipe. I had no problems with it at all. I made mine in a 9" cake pan as I do not have a skillet that will go in the oven. I used Golden Delicious apples instead as I find them firmer and I prefer to bake with a tart apple. I liked that it didn't have too much pastry. I also added lemon juice and zest to the whip cream to add to the hint of lemon on the apples. This dessert disappeared fast!!!
This recipe seemed so easy...but what a mess. The tart went from the oven to the trash. The gelatin never dissolved like the book said it should do and then the apples were one big mount of mush....I'll try it again but I can't say I have high hopes.
I tried this recipe twice and both times it came out runny. The jello was just juice and it made a mess on my counter when I tried to plate it. The flavor was fine, but I won't make this again.
While the flavor was yummy (loved the lemon gelatin with the apples and cinn) the end result looked less than appetizing. The apples were REALLY mushy and looked it, and the apples sat in a little bit of juice. The whole thing was flatter than it looks in the picture. Again, the taste is great but I would just make a pie instead.
