What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

1/4

cup butter, softened

tsp. vanilla

pkg. (16 oz.) powdered sugar, sifted

ring-shaped chewy fruit snacks

miniature candy-coated chocolate pieces

tube (19.28 g) red decorating gel

Make It

PREPARE cake batter as directed on package. Add dry pudding mix; mix well. Spoon into 24 paper-lined muffin cups. Bake as directed on package for cupcakes; cool completely.

BEAT cream cheese, butter and vanilla in medium bowl with mixer until well blended. Gradually beat in sugar. Spread onto cupcakes.

DECORATE with remaining ingredients to resemble photo.

I Loved this recipe! However i used black licorice for the eyes and different colors for the gell squigillys, as my daughter is allergic to red dyes. The effect was still creepy and fun for her!

Because our school asks for storebought treats, not homeade, I bought white iced cupcakes and got the candy and let the kids make their own eyeballs! We used red licorice strings for the bloodshot effect instead of handing out tubes of gel. It was a huge hit with the first graders in my sons class!
