My kids thought that I was the best mom ever for taking the time to make their sandwich fun. They have requested it several times since.

Easy way to get the kids to eat whole wheat so you can slowly convert to whole wheat all the time.

I wouldn't make it this way... too time consuming and does not go in a lunchbox. Kids who are fed darker nutritional breads come to love them quickly... no need to entice. We have a sandwich we call our "tic tac toe" sandwich... two open pieces of bread; on one slice, put peanut butter on the bottom half horizontally and on the top, cream cheese. On the other slice, put vertically grape jelly and strawberry jelly side by side. cut into four squares and you have a peanut butter/grape sandwich, a peanut butter/strawberry sandwich, a cream cheese/grape sandwich and a cream cheese/strawberry jelly sandwich. Fun, easy, and easy in the lunchbox.

Not only is this sandwich an eye catcher it is fun to eat. My daughter is in first grade and really loves taking her lunch to school with this sandwich in her lunch box.
