Free-Form Harvest Apple Tart

Free-Form Harvest Apple Tart recipe
It must be the crisp air of the orchard that makes us want to mold a rustic, fresh fruit tart by hand. This one sports lemony cream cheese along with crisp apples.

Very flavorful and nice presentation too! I made this the day before and stored it wrapped in parchment paper in a tupperware container in the fridge overnight. I took it out an hour before serving and then sliced. The guests were very impressed! I used a pastry cutter instead of a food processor for the dough--worked great. I have just received the new calendar and noticed the recipe is featured in it--it is delicious!

I could not stop eating this dessert. I love tart apple desserts and this was perfect. I will make it again and again!

Though the crust was easy to roll out, I found it too thick if I used the 14 x 8 size specified. I rolled it out much thinner and used the leftover dough for cinnamon-sugar twists. It was also a bit too lemony for us. If I make it again, I'll try using less gelatin.

I used peach jello. I also made a drizzle frosting of butter, powdered sugar, cream and almond flavoring and everyone who has tasted it loved it.

The crust is difficult to roll. Next time. I will probably make it with low-fat cream cheese or add some water. Apple filling definitely needs some sugar and less cornstarch to produce a mosit tart filling.

The lemon jello gave it a fresh, not too sweet flavor. All the men voted it as a keeper! It is easy to make and delicious.
