very easy to make. rich chocolate dessert. I did not put the crumbs on top of the truffles, instead I combined the entire package of oreos with cream cheese. To coat the truffles, I put a skewer throught the balls and spooned the melted chocolate over them, over the bowel of chocolate. I was afraid that they would melt if I dunked them.
The Oreo and cream cheese combinaton is delicious and the kids enjoyed rolling the balls before Mom dipped them in the chocolate. We tried both semi-sweet and milk chocolate. Both were very good. We'll definitely make these again.
everyone loves these! i make them often. i decorate them as eyeballs for halloween and for christmas i make coal(original recipe) and snowballs(add 3/4 tsp of mint extract to ball mixture, dip in white choc and sprinkle crush candy canes on top).
This was so easy AND delicious! Made it for a family get together and had some left over and brought to work the next day for the girls to eat and they went crazy! One asked for me to make them for her birthday the following week instead of a cake! I tried to mix it up a little bit too and used peanut butter sandwich cookies instead of oreo's, which turned out alright but I like the oreo's better. I've got to try the other cookie ball recipes!
These oreo truffles were excellent!! I got rave reviews from everyone. So easy too. The only change I had was that I used two 8 oz. pkgs. of cream cheese, for one bag of oreo cookies. Also, remember to sprinkle the extra oreo crumbs on the truffles before the chocolate balls dry.
my son and I made these for Christmas this year, they were really easy and a huge success !! The recipe does not, however make 48 truffles. We only got about 30 out of it.
They will not survive for long after making them. Consider using milk chocolate for those folks who don't like dark chocolate or split and do half and half when dipping them.
These are so good...everyone in my family loves them & goes crazy when I make them for get togethers. It is best to put them in the fridge over nite...they are easier to handle. I have found tho you can't use any lite or no fat cream cheese...gotta use the real deal or its hard to roll into balls. Also I use white tastes alot better.
3rd Christmas I've made these...get requests for them from family & friends! Tip: I make these over the course of 2 days: blend cookies w/cream cheese then chill for a few hours before rolling into balls. Then freeze on cookie sheets over night. Makes it WAY easier to dip in melted choc. Used mint oreos, white chocolate and crushed candy canes on top...YUM!
These were awesome and so easy to make! I made them for teacher's gifts, but now I have to make a another batch for ourselves to enjoy!
