I love peanut brittle, but had never made it before. This did not turn out like what I'm used to. Was very chewy. Later looked in another cookbook and it said your supposed to stretch this as it cools so that it will crisp....I didn't do that. Maybe that's why mine turned out chewy and extremely sticky. I know I've had crisp, thick peanut brittle before...What went wrong? A cook in StL, MO.
I made this for Christmas and it was a hit. It's much easier than making it on the stove with a candy thermometer. I make it for my father (a peanut brittle junkie) but I don't dip it in chocolate. As far as using the nuts - any nut will do but you have to work FAST when making peanut brittle. I've used mixed nuts (try to find unsalted) and had no problems. I also use a smaller pan (a 8x10 sheet pan) than what the recipe calls for. My grandmother always used to say that you can only make peanut brittle in the winter - it's too humid in the summer!
I made this recipe, and my family loved it! I gave the recipe to my boss and she tried to substitute cashews and said it didn't turn out. Anyone with suggestions?
This recipe is great because is very easy and fast ,but the does not have a good tast.
I made this recipe for our company cookie swap it was so original and tasty. It really complemented the cookie trays. The recipe was easy to follow and simple. Hard to believe it was made entirely in the microwave.
My family and I loved the taste but it was a bit messy. Make sure you use a GLASS bowl rather than plastic bowl as indicated- the candy mixture melted and ruined the bottom of my mixing bowl!!! Live and learn.
Never made peanut brittle before- easy & very yummy! can make in two steps- so don't have to have 50 min. free all at once!
I never made peanut brittle before so this was the first time for me.It was so easy and very good.Everyone loved it.I will make it always.
I'm known for the peanut brittle and other candies I make and give out each Christmas, but this one had everyone raving and asking for the recipe! I've added it to my all-time favorite holiday candy recipes. Thanks so much for emailing me this one!
