What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding

cup cold milk

1/2

cup PLANTERS Creamy Peanut Butter

1/2

cup PLANTERS Dry Roasted Peanuts

oz. BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, melted

1-1/2

cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

PREPARE cake batter and bake as directed on package for 2 (9-inch) round cake layers. Cool in pans 10 min.; remove to wire racks. Cool completely. Meanwhile, beat pudding mix and milk with whisk 2 min. Add peanut butter; mix well. Refrigerate until ready to use.

MIX nuts and melted chocolate until nuts are evenly coated. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper-covered baking sheet. Refrigerate 10 min. or until firm.

STACK cake layers on plate, filling with 1 cup pudding mixture. Gently stir COOL WHIP into remaining pudding mixture. Spread over top and side of cake. Decorate with chocolate-nut clusters.

Microwave chocolate in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min. 10 sec., stirring after 30 sec. (The chocolate will retain its shape.) Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

This is my family's favorite cake! ...so delicious and so easy - makes it my favorite, too. I recently tried a twist on this recipe: orange cake w/ chocolate frosting (replacing the peanut butter w/ Nutella) It was divine!

This recipe tastes delicious, however I found that it didn't create enough icing to ice the entire cake (and I followed the directions correctly). I ended up having to put the little amount of icing that I had on the cake and then covering the rest in coolwhip.

I made this cake for my grandson's birthday last year and it was a huge hit.Our whole family loves chocolate and peanut butter together and so it was a perfect choice. My grandson chose it himself from a picture on the Kraft site and has asked for the same cake for his birthday this year. I love to bake and found this recipe simple and the cake turned out as pretty as the picture. In reading over the comments, I think it is important to read directions carefully and also make sure you have the correct ingredients. I had no problem with the frosting at all-it was smooth and creamy, there was plenty to frost and fill the cake, and it was not runny. Also, be sure and choose a good quality cake mix. A recipe can only be as good as the ingredients. I give it a #1 rating.Yum!

I made this cake for a family reunion and one family member wanted to pay me to take the rest of the cake b/c she thought it was so great! everyone LOVED it. I'm making it again for the 4th time for a friend for her birthday.

I have made this cake many times, also in cupcake form. It is always desimated without a crumb left - rave reviews.
