Since my dad passed away three years ago I have been trying to make chili like his, I had no success. I was happy I came across this site. I searched for a chili recipe and I looked at the ratings to see what others thought. I figured this dish had to be good since it had 4 stars so I printed it out and went out to the local store to pick up the ingredients. A couple of days passed, it turned cold and damp outside so I decided what better day to make the chili. I couldn't believe how delicious it was and how familiar it was to my dads recipe, I was happy to finally found a recipe that matched my dads. I give you a 5 star :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT CHILI - like I always wanted homemade chili to turn out! GREAT CHILI - like I always wanted homemade chili to turn out! I did add, though, 1/2 t. of cumin and 1/2 t. of ground chipotle powder for a little heat (I'm sure you could use ground cayenne as well). I have made it with both ground beef and ground turkey, and they both turned out great! I use dried onion flakes (1/3 cup) instead of the raw onion (personal preference). I also use canned soy beans to watch the carbs, but added approx. 1 t. of salt as they usually are canned with no sodium added. (A plus for the soy beans is they have much less of an "after effect" if you know what I mean!) GREAT CHILI!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've made this recipe several times. I've made this recipe several times. For Christmas last year, I got a crockpot and decided to try it out.....it was delicious! I'd made a double recipe because with a single one, there's never enough....this time it was JUST enough. It's also good served over white rice. Another suggestion is to make plain cornbread and serve it over that.....it also helps it go just a little bit farther! The next time I'm going to add a little juice from a jalepeno pepper....just enough to give it a kick....i'm using just the juice so nobody gets a piece of the pepper, lol.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An excellent change on an old classic! An excellent change on an old classic! My husband is not a fan of chili and my daughter refuses to eat it at all. After eating A-1 Chili, both my husband and daughter have announced it will be the ONLY chili in this house -- ha-ha! It is different from any chili I have ever eaten, but very good. Most recipes I love to "tweek", but this one doesn't really need "tweeking". A-1 Chili will become a regular in this house!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 4.5 stars! 4.5 stars! Would've given it 5 except that the appearance didn't do the flavor justice! Great flavor and very filling. I substituted the chili powder with a pack of "Simply Organic Spicy Chili" mix. I also reduced the A-1 to a 1/4 cup. After browning the meat I tossed everything in the Crock Pot on high for an hour. It was perfect and I'll definitely make it again. It made about 3-4 portions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time making chili ever...have made it twice in one week. First time making chili ever...have made it twice in one week. I hesitated to answer at a potluck when someone asked "who made the chili beans?" After hearing all the wonderful comment people had about the chili I answered proudly "I made the chili. I accompanied the chili with the southwest cornbread. I loved them both and so did my husband. I will absolutely add this recipe to my meal plans.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My husband actually said he liked it. My husband actually said he liked it. He never comments on dinner. The kids didn't eat much, but I didn't expect them to eat chili. I thought there was a little too much A1. I also cut the chili powder in half based on one of the other reviews. I would definitely use all of the chili powder called for. It needed a little more kick.

I have been trying to find a good chili recipe for my husband for quite some time...this is it! I added extra garlic, spices such as celery salt, seasoned salt, and granulated garlic. I also put in a can of tomato sauce to make it less thick! It was a hit! My husband loved it!
