All-American Flag Mold

I made this recipe but i mixed cool whip and cream cheese together for the center layer.. it worked great.. i actually got the flag mold from work and didn't not have the recipe and did this myself.. but i didn't think just cool whip would work.. so that is good to know. Thanks! This recipe is awesome!

This is an absolutely superb recipe! Just remember refrigerator time may vary depending on your circumstances, so pay close attention to the recipe's instructions for when to add the next layer (set but not firm, etc). Other than that, this is super easy, I make it ahead the night before usually and unmold and pipe on cool whip before serving. I also don't use the lemon jello, I use the pineapple, which is wonderful!

I thought it was a good recipe the ony problem was that the blue portion of my jello came out very bumpy maybe i left it in the fridge to long before i spooned it on top of the other jellos. every thing else came out fine it all stayed in place.

I made this recipe 7/105 early in the day for 7/205 at 1PM. I unmolded it and by the time I put the blueberries on first and then white stripes, the blue berries started to slide off. I then put the things in sink and turned around the blueberries were off again and the red was sliding off. I pushed it back, then was ready to carry it out I made it 6 steps to my stairs to go out and the whole red top just slide off, and cracked and blueberries fell off into tray. It was bad and I could not take it with me. <<< From Mary, Kraft Kitchens Expert ~ Preparing a layered gelatin mold can be tricky. It is especially important to refrigerate the first gelatin layer only until gelatin is set but not firm and is sticky. This helps the second gelatin layer to adhere to the first layer and prevent the layers from sliding out from each other. >>>

I thought the directions were misleading. I made the jello according to the recipe, but it was too soon for the middle layer, so I had to wait, and when I put on the blue layer, it was too solid-then when I tried to flip it over on the tray, the red layer was stuck in the mold, so I tried to loosen around the edges, didn't work, it fell apart and was ruined. The trouble was not worth the pretty picture on the recipe!

This was a perfect patriotic recipe. Great for parties. I make this a tradition. I make it every year!

This is a much requested hit for summer and especially Fourth of July parties. I CAN'T lose this recipe!

I made this mold last year (2002) for the fourth of July and everyone absolutely loved and asked to make it again this year!!!! Thanks for a great recipe!!!!!

This is a tasty and fun way to make an impression at any 4th of July party.

I got this mold when it first came out and have been making it for several years. A couple of years ago, in fixing a minor disaster (I forgot to spray the mold before starting and the jell-o was breaking up as I tried to unmold it) I found a new way to serve it that's become our favorite. I make it in a 9x13 pan, and when it's firm, I cut the whole pan into rows 1/4' wide. Each piece still has the red, white and blue stripes, so I end up with zillions of tiny 'towers'. I place a layer in the bottom of a trifle bowl (or any pretty glass bowl), add a layer of cool whip, a layer of red and blue berries, more cool whip, more Jell-o, etc., until I reach the top. Then I top with cool whip and some pretty whole berries. It's a gorgeous (and delicious) summer dessert!
