Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't forget to "treat" the apple slices to keep them from browning when exposed to the air. Don't forget to "treat" the apple slices to keep them from browning when exposed to the air. Many cookbooks advise using lemon juice but in our home we use diet 7-UP or diet Sprite or even generic diet lemon-lime pop. The regular versions will work as well as the diet but being diabetic I prefer the diet ones. All you need is enough to toss the slices in and i like drinking it afterwards, too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We have been making this recipe for years but we call them 'applewiches'. We have been making this recipe for years but we call them 'applewiches'. We slice the apple like a thin doughnut, spread peanut butter on each side, place a slice of cheese on one and sprinkle crunchy wheat germ on the other, then put sides together, ...voila'-- a yummy nutricious 'applewich'!

This simple recipe dresses up the basic cheese and cracker favorite by adding flavor and nutrition. Lowfat and healthy, you could easily substitute pears if apples are not available. You could also substitute other varieties of Kraft low-fat cheese to vary the selections you are offering.

All white flour is not healthy.Ritz makes crackers with whole wheat flour and I believe it also is less fat than the regular cracker and tastey too.
