Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yummy! I have made this pie several times over the years (mostly for holiday dinners) using both granny smith & golden delicious apples. Came out beautifully every time. It is my son's favorite and he has even requested it for his birthday in place of a traditional cake (I had to double the recipe and make it in a 9 X 13 dish to accommodate the number of guests we had). It has become my go-to holiday apple pie recipe!

This is the first pie I have ever made and it was so easy and came out fantastic looking plus it was delicious! I really impressed my dinner guests with this. I will definitely keep this in my recipe box. I used Macintosh apples and it came out perfectly.

Simple yet delicious, and perfect for cool Fall days. I added a bit more cinnamon and nutmeg. Added bonus: your kitchen will smell lovely while this is baking!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this pie with our Thanksgiving dinner. I made this pie with our Thanksgiving dinner. I had not actually made a pie from scratch before, so I was a little worried that I might do something wrong. It turned out wonderfully.... I was pleasantly surprised. My family gobbled it up so fast I almost didn't get any! I topped it with a spoonful of cool whip and it was perfect! The apples were the perfect texture & firmness and the flavor was great (I used Golden Delicious apples). Definitely will make again, probably with Christmas dinner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was the first apple pie I have ever attempted to make. This was the first apple pie I have ever attempted to make. I never wanted to do all of the prep work. The worst part of this pie was cutting the apples. Suprisingly the crumb top was extremely easy. My family, especially my husband of 30+ years, was very impressed. He said it was the best apple pie he had ever eaten. That is a huge compliment coming from the man that always compares everything to his grandma. The family has already asked me to add it to the holiday menu.

This is probably one of the first desserts I've made that has turned out looking as good as it tasted--(I'm not good at making things presentable). I made it for mom's B-day and everyone said it was better than store bought. There was one area of confusion for me--I didn't know whether or not I had to cook the Tapioca...but I put it in dry seeing all the other ingrediants were. It actually made two pies altogether.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've made this pie many times and I'm still getting raves about it. I've made this pie many times and I'm still getting raves about it. My son prefers it without the nutmeg though. I have one in the oven right now. I use my wire wisk on my small hand mixer to make the crumb topping. I put the ingredients into a tall 4 cup measuring cup. If the butter is room temperature, it doesn't take long for the crumb to form. Just don't whisk it to long or you'll have a dough instead of crumb.
