  • Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Toss apples and sausage with syrup in medium bowl; spoon into 8-inch square baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Prepare muffin batter as directed on package, substituting sour cream for the milk. Spoon over apple mixture, spreading batter to completely cover apple mixture.
  • Bake 25 to 30 min. or until golden brown. Run knife around edge of dish to loosen casserole; invert onto platter.

Special Extra

Serve topped with additional syrup.

I used the egg in the corn bread mix, crushed & chunk pineapple and I used real brown and serve pork sausage that I browned in a pan first and drained the fat. It was a nice combo of sweet & salty which my family likes so needless to say it went fast.

I made this with leftover breakfast sausage (crumbled) but next time I will make it with crushed pineapple like the other reviews. The big pieces of pineapple took away from the overall blend.
