Aquarium Cups

Berry blue gelatin poured over strawberries in clear plastic cups is filled with gummy fish. Kids love to make and eat these mini aquarium snacks.

What You Need

3/4

cup boiling water

pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Berry Blue Flavor Gelatin

Ice cubes

1/2

cup cold water

1/2

cup chopped strawberries

bite-size fish-shaped chewy fruit snacks

Make It

ADD boiling water to gelatin mix in medium bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Add enough ice cubes to cold water to measure 1-1/4 cups. Add to gelatin; stir until slightly thickened. Remove any unmelted ice. If gelatin is still thin, refrigerate until slightly thickened.

PLACE berries in 4 clear plastic cups; cover with gelatin. Press fruit snacks into gelatin until completely submerged.

REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.

These were fun to make and tasted great, but it is very hard to see the fish. Notice in their pic, there is light shining from behind.

Instead of using fruit I smashed up some graham crackers for the bottom. I just poured some in the bottom of the cup w/ about a teaspoon of jello so it would get firm before pouring anything else in.

I had no problem. Don't put the strawberries in until you are ready to serve it. The recipe says to put the strawberries on the bottom of the cup and then pour the thickened jello on top.

The strawberries kept floating to the top, so i suggest making about half of the jello and set it with the strawberries, then make the rest, pour it on top of the already set jello, and put the fish in.

Do not make these ahead of time. Make them the day of. I made them the night before and when it came time to eat them the following afternoon, the fish were very soggy and I could not even eat them. They are a little difficult esp. if the JELLO doesn't set.

This turned out so gross looking. I made them the night before the party and all of the coloring from the fish starting running off. The fish also looked bloated.

I made them the night before, and the fish got all soggy and gross. Don't make these until the day of the party.

Sounds like a great recipe. I am going to use one box clear and one box blue to try to lighten it up a little. Anyone have any other ideas for the fish. They all say that they get slimy.

i tried this recipe and did not like the results the fish taste a little funny and the strawberries floated so pretty much it just wasn't a good outcome
