OMG@ I've been making this for several years by accident -- had a craving for potato skins one night, but was low on the toppings; mixed up the little bit of sour cream I had on hand with a little onion dip then added the cheese & bacon! We loved it & now I make it to dip french fries in! Never thought to use on crackers - just made to feed a craving!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I took this dip to a party and got lots of compliments. I took this dip to a party and got lots of compliments. I used real bacon, added almost a full package of ranch dressing mix and shredded the cheese in a food processor so it wouldn't be stringy. My only complaint was that it was so thick that it was hard to get on the chips without them breaking. Overall it was very tasty!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was great; everyone loved it! This was great; everyone loved it! I made this 24 hrs in advance and would recommend that but if you can't do that long, then I think at least 5 hrs. It will be more flavorful the longer it sits and the bacon gets tender. If you let it sit, then there is not to much sour cream flavor, the other flavors will be enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe was absolutely delicious. This recipe was absolutely delicious. I made it for a get together and everyone loved it. My 9 year old says it's his favorite dip. I did make 2 changes...I used 2 cups of cheese and the whole 3 oz bottle of bacon bits to tame the sour cream taste. Very delicious and super simple to make.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I used real crumbled bacon. I used real crumbled bacon. Not a fan of the bacon bits. And finely shredded cheddar cheese. It helped the consistency. I also added a bit of onion salt and minced dehydrated onions. Then let it sit for 2 hours. It was pretty good. But it would have been bland otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this dip! LOVE this dip! It's so versatile; anything from horseradish to powdered ranch tastes great in it. If nothing is added to the recipe, I find it's best to make it the day before. That way the flavors have time to come together, and it doesn't just taste like sour cream.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would give the recipe as is 1 star, because you can't taste anything but the sour cream. I would give the recipe as is 1 star, because you can't taste anything but the sour cream. At the suggestion of other reviewers, I added a packet of ranch dressing mix--then I could only taste ranch. So I also nearly tripled the amount of bacon called for--perfect!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall all it was very good! Overall all it was very good! My husband loved it! I seen where someone suggested adding a pack of the ranch mix and thats what I did which gave it a great flavor. The only bad thing I noticed was that it was a little thick, but it was still very good!
