I served these potatoes at my Thanksgiving dinner, since my family and freinds do not care for gravy this sounded like just the ticket for something new. I would like to add that without adding anything additional to them, I made them into patties and cooked them for breakfast the next day. In a non stick pan with about a tsp of olive oil . cook until nicely browned on each side, what a great alternative to hashbrowns or home fries.

I prepared a batch and a half, and added the following: 6-1/2 potatoes, 6 tablespoons of salad dressing, 3 tablespoons milk, 7 slices of cooked-crumbled bacon, 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper + 1/8 teaspoon pepper, 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese. A batch and a half will make 7 servings. Hubby and I really enjoyed these potatoes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was quick, easy and delicious. This was quick, easy and delicious. I buy the 6 oz bars of Kraft cheese for snacks and appetizers so I used the cheddar bacon cheese and added some chopped green onion for garnish. The second time that I went to prepare the dish I was out of the cheddar bacon so I used a different flavor cheese bar and added some diced ham. Since then we have made several variations and all have been great.

I'm not a big fan of mircle whip, so I just used 1/4 C. of it and I poured in a little milk and instead of a 1/2 C. of cheese, I used a whole cup, because I love cheese! And it was my first time making it and it was really good, my fiance' said it was the best meal I have cooked for him. He said the potatos were awesome....I might make them again tonight.

I am not a fan of Miracle Whip but thought I'd give it a shot and try the recipe anyway. The flavor of the Miracle Whip overwhelmed the cheese and bacon. I will try the recipe again, but will use butter in the place of Miracle Whip and will add more cheese than what the recipe calls for. I also add milk to make my mashed potatoes smooth and not lumpy.

I made this tonight but after reading other reviews I decided to do two versions so we could decide what we liked. I did one with ranch and one with miracle whip. The only thing I changed about the rest of the recipe was add a little milk so it wasn't so dry. In the end our family decided we liked the ranch the best :)

I was reading other comments of people using sour cream instead of the miracle whip...I don't happen to like it so I used the sour cream and it turned out wonderfully everyone at my table loved and I myself was very happy with it...you can serve it with steak or chicken goes great with both...

I wasn't sure how this would turn out with the mayo so after reading some of the reviews I used 1/4 cup of mayo and added some milk. It was really good. The mayo was not overpowering at all, I thought it was a great substitute for butter. My whole family really loved it.
