Tap or click steps to mark as complete

  • Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Wrap 1 bacon piece around each wiener piece; roll in combined sugar and pepper to evenly coat.
  • Place, seam-sides down, in foil-lined rimmed baking sheet.

I have been making these for years, we call them candied hotdogs and every time I make them they go very fast. The portions I use are: 1 package of Oscar Mayer 10 count hotdogs, I cut these into five pieces each; 1 package of bacon, I cut each strip into 3 equal pieces; and one pound of brown sugar. I wrap the hotdog pieces and secure with a toothpick. This makes 50 appetizers. Use a large disposable tin tray (you will thank me later) place wrapped dogs very close but not touching in tray and put sugar on top of all the dogs. I bake mine at 350 and start checking them at 30 minutes. Remove them from the tray before they cool and the sugar has time to harden. I think they are better once they have become room temperature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe was such a hit at our birthday party. This recipe was such a hit at our birthday party. I made it using 8 hot dogs, cut them into thirds, and cut the bacon in half and wrapped them. Following the cooking instructions. I did use a pork rub instead of the brown sugar and pepper. The pork runways premixed and I had it in my cupboard. I served them with BBQ sauce and Honeymustard dressing for dipping. Will definitely make them again for a party.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this recipe for Thanksgiving appetizers and the plate was gone in the blink of an eye. I made this recipe for Thanksgiving appetizers and the plate was gone in the blink of an eye. I went heavy on the brown sugar and I used thick cut bacon as suggested by the person below. They were so good. I did the same recipe with cut up chicken. Just cooked it a little longer so the chicken was cooked through. They came out really good too! Make a lot of these, they go fast!

The first time I made I accidentally used white sugar instead of the brown, turned out great, second time used brown sugar seemed to not stick as well as the white sugar. So the third time (all within a month) I used brown and white sugar (mixed together), but first dipped in chili sauce (diluted a bit) AWESOME!!!
