Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog Bites

I made this recipe for Thanksgiving appetizers and the plate was gone in the blink of an eye. I went heavy on the brown sugar and I used thick cut bacon as suggested by the person below. They were so good. I did the same recipe with cut up chicken. Just cooked it a little longer so the chicken was cooked through. They came out really good too! Make a lot of these, they go fast!

I have made this recipe multiple times with Li'l Smokies (beef) and they are always gone in the blink of an eye! Be generous with the brown sugar, and use a toothpick to hold the bacon on the dogs. It probably would stay anyway, but people like the toothpick when they are trying to eat these. I have never used the pepper, but I think that would be a nice addition to the sweetness of the sugar and bacon. Also, try to use thick-cut bacon. I've used regular, and it's good, but there's a lot of fat and the fatty parts are hard to wrap. Good luck & definitely try it! :-)

Made these to as an appetizer for a cook out. Everyone agreed they were fabulous. My neighbor asked if I could make them every night for dinner. My husband second that opinion.

Made this last night for a snack. Would be good when entertaining. Liked the sweetness from the brown sugar and the spice from the red pepper. I extended the cooking time to 50 min in order for the bacon to be cooked thoroughly. Cooked for 1/2 hr then turned and cooked another 20 min. I used 8 hot dogs for 4 adults. Would also be good using lit'l smokies too, leaving them whole and cutting the bacon in thirds. I would also suggest serving with ketsup or a horseradish dipping sauce.
