What You Need

pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate

Tbsp. butter or margarine

3/4

cup sugar

tsp. vanilla

eggs

1-1/4

cups flour, divided

1/2

tsp. baking soda

3/4

cup water

1-1/2

cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Microwave chocolate and butter in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir in sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating with electric mixer on low speed after each addition until well blended. Add 1/4 cup of the flour and the baking soda; mix well. Add remaining 1 cup flour alternately with the water, beating until well blended after each addition.

SPOON evenly into 12 paper-lined medium muffin cups.

BAKE 19 to 21 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 min.; remove to wire racks. Cool completely. Spread tops of cupcakes with whipped topping.

This is a great recipe for birthday party cupcakes, and I've found that Nutella and vanilla frosting are good toppers!

This had a good flavor and texture, but was on the dry side. I sifted the flour, since I had no cake flour as the submitter recommended, and I used the minimal recommended bake time. Since the flavor was good, I'll try again, but next time, I'll replace the water with milk, and check the cupcakes earlier.

needed a little more sweetening. Too heavy on the taste of chocolate. May make it again possibly

These were just OK. They are not too sweet and seemed a little dry.

The cake was too dense and not sweet to me. Everyone loved the strawberry cool whip though, I am excited to find other uses for it!

Very easy to make and tastes great. Mine didn't come out that sweet though, probably because I only used 3 squares; but with frosting they taste great! Definitely make it again.

These cupcakes were very good! Heavy only needed to eat one at a time. Didn't even need a frosting because they were already sweet enough.
