pkg. (2-layer size) yellow cake mix

cup cold milk

pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided

1/4

cup chocolate sprinkles

piece chocolate string licorice (12 inch)

Tbsp. red decorating gel

Make It

GREASE and flour one 9-inch round baking pan; set aside. Prepare cake mix as directed on package. Pour half of the batter into prepared pan; spoon remaining batter into 12 paper-lined medium muffin cups. Bake as directed on package for 9-inch cake layer and cupcakes. Cool cake and cupcakes in pans 5 min.; remove to wire racks. Cool completely.

POUR milk into medium bowl. Add dry pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 2 min. or until well blended. Gently stir in 1 cup of the whipped topping.

CUT a small piece from side of round cake; discard. Frost top and side of cake with pudding mixture. Decorate with chocolate sprinkles and licorice to resemble baseball mitt. Frost cupcakes with remaining 2 cups whipped topping. Place 1 cupcake on mitt. Decorate cupcakes with decorating gel to resemble stitches on a baseball. Store cake and cupcakes in refrigerator.

We made this cake for my son's 7th birthday last year and it was a bit hit! We combined this with the baseball cupcake recipe and all the kids were really excited! It was so easy and soooo good!

This was easy to make and turned out really cute, although I did make some changes. I just used canned frosting to frost the cake and instead of the sprinkles and licorice, I used a darker frosting and piped it on with a decorator's bag. It turned out really cute and my son loved it.

This was a cute cake from far away but I had a hard time putting the sprinkles on the top without getting it on places I didn't want the sprinkles to be. I would suggest using gel for the top. My guests loved the cake and so did I, just be prepared to take your time because you can't rush through decorating it. It put a smile on my son's face so that is all that is important! :-)

putting the sprinkles on was a little difficult but I managed. I used chocolate gel frosting instead of licorice. i made this for my son's 2nd birthday and he loved getting the cupcake. Next time I will probably decorate the top with the gel instead of sprinkles.

Chocolate string licorice is hard to find, so I had to cut regulat choclate licorice into strings. Worked just fine.

this was so easy & soo cute. My five year old picked it out & was very happy with the finished product. I couldn't find the licorice so I just used the tube frosting. it worked just fine.

This was pretty easy. I was worried mostly about the glove but the stitches on the balls is what really took a little time. I would suggest only stitching the ball on top and it would be even easier.
