Kool-Aid Tips

Summertime Tips

  • To avoid ice cubes from diluting the flavor of your KOOL-AID drink, add ice cubes made from additional prepared KOOL-AID. For a fun twist, mix and match your favorite KOOL-AID flavors. For example, add cherry-flavored KOOL-AID ice cubes to lemonade-flavored KOOL-AID, or strawberry-flavored KOOL-AID ice cubes to prepared lime-flavored KOOL-AID.
  • At an outdoor event, prevent bugs from getting into cups of cold beverages by covering the tops of the filled cups with foil, then poking a straw through the foil to enjoy.
  • Grapes, blueberries or strawberries make great "natural" ice cubes! Just freeze the fruit until very firm before adding to the filled beverage glasses just before serving. In addition to helping to chill the drinks, the fruit will add flavor as it thaws.
  • When preparing fruit punches or other drinks calling for carbonated beverages, wait until the last minute to add the carbonated beverage to help keep the fizzy bubbles.
  • Beat the heat with a Lemonade Slushie. At just 10 calories per serving, it makes a refreshing summertime treat!
  • At your next picnic or outdoor party, store ice in a separate cooler from the other foods and drinks to prevent the other coolers from being opened until needed, keeping those foods colder. For easy serving of the ice cubes, use a disposable plastic cup to scoop the ice into glasses.

Have Fun!

  • Bring a smile to the faces of the young and old alike at your next picnic by serving the KOOL-AID with fun straws in glasses of different sizes and shapes.
  • Add slices of fresh limes, lemons, grapefruit and/or oranges to glasses or pitchers of prepared KOOL-AID for a beautiful presentation. Or garnish the filled glasses with raspberries and fresh mint leaves, or kiwi slices.
  • To make fun drink stirrers, insert fruit chunks onto ends of plastic stirrers or small straws. Add one to each cold drink just before serving.
  • Try this fun beverage idea at your next party. Prepare three or four flavors of KOOL-AID, using a separate pitcher for each. For added color and flavor, fill a bowl with cut-up fresh fruit. Then, invite your guests to mix their own drink using their own blend of KOOL-AID flavors and fruit.
  • This Easter, put a fun twist on your Easter Eggs with KOOL-AID! Pour contents of 1 envelope of each KOOL-AID color into separate 10- to-12 oz. container. Add 2/3 cup water to each; stir to dissolve drink mix. Use spoon to place 1 hard-cooked egg in each cup, keeping egg submerged until desired color is reached. Continue with remaining eggs. Let dry as directed above. SPECIAL EXTRA: Place assorted rubber bands around hard-cooked eggs before dipping in cups of KOOL-AID mixtures; let dry completely before removing rubber bands. For a two-tone effect, dip the dry colored eggs again in a lighter-colored prepared KOOL-AID. For step-by-step visual instructions, view the KOOL-AID Tie-Dye Easter Eggs recipe.
