Black Bottom-Banana Cream Pie

Classic diner dessert meets state fair midway treat, and a star is born. Like a chocolate-dipped banana treat, only with a crust instead of a stick.

What You Need

Tbsp. butter or margarine, divided

NILLA Wafers, finely crushed (about 1-1/4 cups)

Tbsp. sugar

pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces

large bananas, sliced

pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding

cups cold milk

cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Make It

MELT 4 Tbsp. butter; pour into medium bowl. Stir in wafer crumbs and sugar. Reserve 2 Tbsp. for later use; press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate.

MICROWAVE chocolate and remaining butter in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min. or until butter is melted; stir until chocolate is melted and mixture is well blended. Drizzle over bottom of crust; top with bananas.

BEAT pudding mix and milk with whisk 2 min.; pour over bananas. Refrigerate 4 hours. Top with COOL WHIP and reserved crumb mixture just before serving.

my son wanted this for his b-day instead of cake they ate the whole pies cake doesnt go fast like this!

This was the hit of the party. Took some time to make but well worth it! I listened to others and made the chocolate layer thin, it made the pie very tasty. Will make this again and again!!

This pie is an easy treat to make. I use fat free, sugar free instant pudding mix. The flavor is just as yummy. I also must use lactose free milk. I don't care for the chocolate being so hard. I have used a number of different short cuts for that layer including hot fudge topping for ice cream.

Love this recipe and my kids could help make it. I accidentally got banana creme pudding instead of vanilla but it was delicious. My only complaint was that the chocolate was a little too hard, so might use chocolate chips instead of bakers squares next time.

Unbelievably good! My mom makes this for family gatherings and it's everyone's favorite!

This was really good but the chocolate was very hard and it made it hard to eat for some of the people I made it for. I would make it again and use something chocolate that would stay soft.
