What You Need

squares BAKER'S Unsweetened Chocolate, melted
1/3
cup canola oil
1/3
cup unsweetened applesauce
1
tsp. vanilla

cups sugar
8
 egg whites

cup flour
1/2
cup chopped PLANTERS Pecans

Make It

HEAT oven to 350ºF.

LINE 13x9-inch pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides. Spray with cooking spray.

MIX first 4 ingredients in large bowl. Stir in sugar and egg whites. Add flour and nuts; mix well. Pour into prepared pan.

BAKE 25 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudgy crumbs. (Do not overbake.) Cool completely. Use foil handles to lift brownies from pan before cutting to serve.

Makeover - How We Did It
We took our classic brownie recipe and made it over. We reduced the fat by replacing the whole eggs with egg whites, decreased the amount of nuts and used a combination of applesauce and oil to replace the butter. These changes will save you 40 calories and 5g of fat, including 3g of saturated fat, per serving.
How to Make a Fudgier Brownie
Prepare using 6 egg whites.
Special Extra
Use a fine-mesh strainer to sift 1 to 2 tsp. powdered sugar over the cooled brownies.
