What You Need

1/2

cup butter, softened

3/4

cup PLANTERS Crunchy Peanut Butter

NILLA Wafers, crushed (about 3/4 cup)

cups powdered sugar

1/2

of 8-oz. tub COOL WHIP Whipped Topping (Do not thaw.)

oz. BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate

Make It

LINE 8-inch square pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides. Beat butter and peanut butter with mixer until blended. Add wafer crumbs; mix well. Gradually beat in sugar. Press onto bottom of pan.

MICROWAVE COOL WHIP and chocolate in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min.; stir. Microwave 15 to 30 sec. or until chocolate is melted; stir until well blended. Spread over peanut butter layer.

REFRIGERATE 2 hours. Use foil handles to lift dessert from pan before cutting to serve.

This was VERY easy and REALLY GOOD!! I used Jif Extra Crunchy peanut butter and added about two heaping tablespoons of it! It was too THICK to stir!! It came out delicious!! I'll make it several times, again! Will be good to make for church gatherings. Thanks for it!! :)

delicious, except you really have to spread the cookie mix into the pan. Has anyone thought of using a little Gulf Wax to the choc mix like regular Buckeyes? If so did they set better? Also I saw a review in 2008 by SSMJD who said she has a recipe for a 9x13 pan. Any chance of sharing it? These bars are great. I live in Ohio and make Buckeyes every yr but not THIS one. It's Buckeye Bars from now on!

So rich and delicious. They are very rich. Started out with 16 bars, then I cut each of those into 4 pieces, and ended up with lots and lots of delicious bite sized pieces.

So easy and tastes great, but my chocolate never set. I followed recipe to a t and even stuck it in the freezer for a last ditch effort. I would make again, but use a different chocolate topping.

I love Buckeye balls but hate making them! Theses are so much easier and taste just like them. The only thing I do different is I use creammy PB instead. Make them EVERY year now (been 3 years maybe 4 since I found this recipe)!

I did notice that the chocolate takes much longer to melt than the Cool Whip...so I removed the chocolate from the Cool Whip after the first minute because the Cool Whip was boiling. Then proceeded with the direction of mixing.

These were very good, but not exactly the same as buckeyes. I will definately make them again, but won't call them buckeyes.
