Make It

Tap or click steps to mark as complete

  • Cook chicken, sauce and water in saucepan on medium heat 5 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally.
  • Meanwhile, mix mayo, dressing, celery and blue cheese.
  • Fill buns with chicken mixture, cheddar and mayo mixture.

Substitute

Prepare using KRAFT Light Mayo Reduced Fat Mayonnaise, KRAFT Lite Ranch Dressing and KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Cheddar Cheese.

Shortcut

An easy way to get the shredded cooked chicken is to use a rotisserie chicken purchased from your grocery store. Just shred it with 2 forks. You should easily be able to get 4 cups shredded meat from 1 rotisserie-cooked chicken.

Variation

Omit the blue cheese.

Serving Suggestion

Cook chicken mixture as directed; spoon into slow cooker set on LOW. Place buns in lined basket; surround with bowls filled with celery mixture and shredded cheese. Invite your guests to serve themselves so you can also enjoy the party.

Ratings & Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME recipe! AWESOME recipe! I made this for a football party and got rave reviews from literally everyone! I cooked chicken breast with a little chicken broth and seasonings in a crockpot and then shredded it. This was really easy and more cost effective than buying rotisserie chicken. I used Cookies hot sauce and just kept adding more sauce to make the meat not dry. It was just the right level of hottness (I order buffalo wings to me medium-hot.) The sauce to go on top is AMAZING! I did not alter the recipe other than to use light mayo and light ranch. I would highly suggest this sandwich for any event. I really liked that it was something a little different too!

I dont mean to sound bad with this but I am from the buffalo ny area.no one can believe how many places have recipes for 'buffalo style',from recipes to restaurants. Its laughed at here.People consider anything spicy with orange color buffalo style. Here it is that only if the hot sauce is made with franks hot sauce, and butter, maybe vinegar, and the chicken is only deep fried plain as is.Not healthy but those are what it takes to be authentic.Buffalo style items taste nothing like the real thing.Tasty, but they think its real and tastes NOTHING like the real things.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Made as full size sandwiches. Made as full size sandwiches. They tasted great! I shredded the cooked chicken and placed it in a crockpot with a little less water and the buffalo sauce and cooked it on low for a few hours. (the condensation will create it's own water in the crockpot) The only thing my family didn't like was the celery in the sauce.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from After reading the reviews I went lighter on the water..probably only used 1/8 cup of water. After reading the reviews I went lighter on the water..probably only used 1/8 cup of water. I use the Franks brand Buffalo sauce and swear by it (I use it to make hot wings too and it's the best). I omitted the celery all together and I thought the blue cheese dressing tasted great. Very easy and simple to make!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This was a hit and really good. This was a hit and really good. I did mix the chopped celery, blue cheese mixture the day before which I will not do again. It was a bit runny (most likely from the celery). The tedius job of chopping celery could be done but don't mix with other ingredients.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting way to serve what is essentially a modified dip. Interesting way to serve what is essentially a modified dip. As for slosh8715, no one outside of Buffalo cares about the "authenticity". I've been to Buffalo and had REAL Buffalo wings and they aren't that unique and it's not that hard to duplicate the flavor. These sandwiches are, again, an interesting take on the idea of Buffalo Chicken.
