To get exact level cup measures of sugar, spoon sugar into dry metal or plastic measuring cups, then level by scraping excess sugar from top of cup with a straight-edged knife.
For a flavor twist, stir 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon or nutmeg into prepared fruit along with the sugar.

This came out really nice. I'm not a huge fan of blueberries, but my family is and they loved it. I didn't really care for the taste of cinnamon in it.
