  • Bring broth to boil in medium saucepan. Meanwhile, mix cornstarch and mustard until blended.
  • Whisk mustard mixture into broth. Stir in cheese; cook on medium heat 10 min. or until cheese is melted and sauce is well blended, stirring constantly.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with assorted dippers, such as pretzels; crackers; apple chunks; and/or cut-up fresh vegetables, such as baby carrots, bell pepper strips, and/or small broccoli or cauliflower florets.

Serving Suggestion

Serve hot fondue in a fondue pot or slow cooker to keep it warm while serving. Or, you can also serve it in a hollowed-out bread loaf.

Serving Suggestion

If serving fondue in a bread loaf, cut the bread removed from the loaf into bite-sized chunks to also use as dippers.

I also made my chicken broth from a soup base and made it a little strong. Four people ate the dip and agreed that it was wonderful. It tasted best with gala apples and roasted garlic bread.

The cornstarch creates a glue-like consistency, which, ironcially didn't stick to the bread or dipping vegetables...but made cleanup a chore!!! I suggest this recipe using a very very slow burner (as not to burn the cheese), without the cornstarch.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Couldn't find the Cracker Barrel cheese so used Kraft 2% instead. Couldn't find the Cracker Barrel cheese so used Kraft 2% instead. Terrible, the cheese didn't melt so the fondue was lumpy and very visually unappetizing. Texture was very bad when eating. I tossed it before the guests arrived.
