When I made this recipe the first time, I did not have the stewed tomatoes, so I had added to the ground beef as I was browning it, some chopped onion, diced celery, diced green pepper, and some garlic. then I added some Italian seasoning, a little white pepper to the mixture. Also, we are a cheese lover family, so I added some shredded cheese to the prepared macaronis and stirred until it melted, then added it to the meat mixture. And sprinkled the shredde cheese over the top, too. We were quite impressed with my small variation, that I have done it this way several times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great weekday dish! What a great weekday dish! So easy and so good. Our 4 year old daughter gobbled it up which surprised us as she can be quite "picky". I used diced tomatoes which worked very well and kept the pieces "kid-friendly". May add a dash of garlic powder to the meat next time and try it with the Deluxe dinner. My best friend came over after supper and tried it and she loved it too. She is not a "casserole" person either. She's going to make it for her family as well. This will be on our family's menu often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe was EXCELLENT! This recipe was EXCELLENT!!! However, I did make a couple changes...I chopped some onions and added it to the ground beef (which I seasoned w/seasoning salt & pepper). Also just get the canned tomatoes already seasoned w/oregano, garlic, etc so then you don't have to worry about getting the spices. And finally instead of just the shredded cheese, I cut slices of velveeta on top to form a top layer. It's very good for you cheese lovers out there, but is very good even w/o all the velveeta.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipie was excellant! This recipie was excellant!I used the mac and cheese dinner with the packet of the cheese you squeeze out.(not the powder cheese type). And I did add a can of the tomatoes that have basil, oregano, and peppers already in it. Then added a little onion powder as my family doesnt like the whole onions. It was very easy and made alot more than I expected. I still had no left overs and that is uncommon. Even the 2 and 4 year old "scarfed" it up. Good job Kraft on this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Mom used to make a very similar recipe a lot when I was growing up. My Mom used to make a very similar recipe a lot when I was growing up. She used to put 1 or 2 small cans of mushrooms stems & pieces (drained) and 1-2 cups of frozen peas (thawed). She would usually double it because we had a good sized family. It's a very budget friendly recipe, which you can make changes to, to fit your likes and dislikes. We never thought of putting in the tomatoes, but that sounds great as well. Think I'll try it next time I make it. ENJOY!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from We tried this recipe last night, it was quite good. We tried this recipe last night, it was quite good. We think next time however we will leave out the tomatoes. We both like tomatoes however I think it gave it a strange taste. Also next time we plan on mixing the beef with a package of taco seasoning. It seems like it would give it a great flavor. We also made two boxes of mac n cheese instead of one so we would have some left overs. Fed the 3 of us with plenty of left overs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great basic recipe to build on and adjust to your family's tastes. Great basic recipe to build on and adjust to your family's tastes. Thanks to other reviews, I added onion and garlic. Used Italian seasoning and a little seasoned salt and mixed in half of the cheese into the casserole and sprinkled other half on top. Chop tomatoes or use diced if you don't like big chunks. Husband topped his with mustard. Enjoyed this dish very much and will make again. Very budget friendly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Mom discovered this casserole in the Kraft magazine and suggested I make it. My Mom discovered this casserole in the Kraft magazine and suggested I make it. We both prefer to use Kraft Deluxe Mac&Cheese. This is absolutely our favorite and both of us make it several times a month! Note: In addition to the shredded Kraft Sharp Cheddar to top the casserole I add buttered Panko bread crumbs on top of the cheese and bake until the casserole is bubbly and top is golden. YUM
