Cheese Wafers

Cut out from a Cheddar dough with small cookie cutters, these savory crackers make tasty nibbles on their own or with your favorite dip or spread.

what you need

1/3

cup butter or margarine, softened

pkg. (8 oz.) KRAFT Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese, at room temperature

tsp. Worcestershire sauce

cup flour

1/8

tsp. ground red pepper (cayenne)

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 375°F. Beat butter, cheese and Worcestershire sauce in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add flour and pepper; mix well.

ROLL dough to 1/8-inch thickness on lightly floured surface; cut into a variety of shapes with small cookie cutters. Place on ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE 10 to 12 min. or until edges are lightly browned. Cool completely on wire racks. Store leftover wafers in airtight container at room temperature.

Note

To bring cheese and butter to room temperature, microwave in large bowl on MEDIUM (50%) 45 sec. to 1 min. or until slightly softened.

Great Substitute

Substitute 1/2 pkg. dry onion soup mix for the Worcestershire sauce.

These were good. But the second time I made them I added herbs. I used garlic and thyme.They work well mad in food processor. A little hard to roll out to 1/8 inch. I also cut into squares because it is just easier for me.

I remember these from my childhood and they were always a favorite! I've been making them myself for years. Mine don't look quite like the picture, theirs look thicker. I love a thin, crisp, cheesey homemade cracker. Thanks Kraft!

I had some other recipe for similar appetizer but this is by far better. Tastier.

I like this recipe but the cheese wafers were too dry and I had to add a little bit more of worshershire sauce. But overall very good

I made these using my gingerbread cutter for a Christmas party and they turned out so cute. I did roll the dough out between two pieces of wax paper and that seemed easier and less messy. I tried the just using flour and the gooey dough kept sticking to my roller. So I just mix it all together and rerolled it. It was great. Oh and I did use the soup mix instead of the worcestershire sauce.
